RLD were engaged to undertake the demolition of a fire damaged friable asbestos containing residential property. RLD organised an emergency order with Orange City Council to undertake the demolition of the property. RLD also arranged the disconnection of services on behalf of the client.
The RLD team sprayed the burnt-out building with a PVA solution to encapsulate fibres. The building was then mechanically demolished with our 26t excavator. Water spray was used to suppress dust whilst the building was being demolished and the waste was being loaded into the 200um thick plastic lined semi-tipper trucks and 200um thick plastic lined 20m3 skip bins. The waste was disposed of at Orange City Council waste facility.
During the demolition works additional asbestos sheeting was found to be attached to the underside of some of the concrete slabs. The contaminated concrete was disposed of as asbestos waste.
A 200mm soil scrape was undertaken and disposed of as asbestos waste.
A licenced Asbestos Assessor conducted Air-Monitoring for the duration of the asbestos removal works and conducted a Clearance inspection and air-monitoring upon completion and issued a Clearance Certificate.
The site was left level and clean.
